  • You may take ALL OF YOUR HOURS ONLINE however how you take them matters. You may only take 1/2 of your hours in a SELF-PACED online course. The remaining 1/2 of your hours must be in a LIVE course. Our LIVE ONLINE courses are fully approved by OCILB for your required live hours.
  • All online (live or self-paced) courses require a working webcam.
  • Our system is compatible with most tablets, phones and computers.
  • Electricians must take 1/2 of their hours in a code class. Our code classes are currently available ONLY in self-paced format. Other licenses may take any approved education listed on our website.

  • How many hours do I need to renew my license?
    • You need a total of 8 hours per year of OCILB continuing education. If you have a license that is on a 3 years cycle you can take your Ohio continuing education hours at any time before your renewal date. That means for a license that renews in the 3 year cycle you may take all 24 hours this year if you want. You do not need to spread it out over the 3 years.
  • How many hours can I take online?
    • You may take ALL OF YOUR HOURS ONLINE however how you take them matters. You may only take 1/2 of your hours in a SELF-PACED online course. The remaining 1/2 of your hours must be in a LIVE course. Our LIVE ONLINE WEBINAR courses are fully approved by OCILB for your required live hours.
    • If you have already taken live classroom courses from another provider those hours count toward your 1/2 live requirement.
  • How is an online self-paced course different than a live webinar course?
    • An online self-paced course is taken whenever you would like. Self-paced courses are available 24 hours a day. You may log in and out as much as you would like and take it in a day or spread it out over a few months. The self-paced courses are flexible to work with your busy schedule.
    • A live webinar course is similar to a physical classroom but without the travel. You log in to the course at the scheduled day and time. Once you are logged in you will see your instructor and your instructor will see you. Once everyone has logged in the video course will begin. Live video conference courses may be comprised of any mix of video, live instructor interaction and question/answer segments. Save time and money by taking the hours you can’t take in a self-paced course in a video conference course.
  • Do I need any special equipment to take a self-paced or video conference course?
    • Most computers come with everything you would need to take either the self-paced course or the video conference course.
      • A web cam with decent resolution. All recent laptops and smart phones have a camera built in. If you need a web cam we highly recommend the Logitech C920 however just about any decent webcam will work.
        • The self-paced course utilizes facial recognition to confirm your identity during the course. Identity verification is required by OCILB for all self-paced online courses. Most cameras work just fine for facial recognition. You can confirm that your equipment will work.
        • The live video conferencing course utilizes a web cam so that the instructor can see you. You may test the Zoom conferencing system we use by clicking here.
      • A screen big enough to see the text and/or video
      • Speakers to hear the audio
  • Will the system work with all types of computers , tablets and smart phones?
    • Yes
  • How does your price guarantee work?
    • 99% of the time our website has the lowest price. We monitor our competition and adjust our pricing accordingly. If we missed one and you find a course at a lower advertised price just give us a call or send us an email prior to enrolling. We will provide you with a coupon code to match the competitor pricing and give you an additional $5.00 off just for helping us update our pricing.
  • Are there any special requirement for Electricians?
    • Yes! All Ohio electricians MUST take at least 1/2 of their hours in an NEC Code class. At this time we only have code classes available in the self-paced courses. We do not have any live online code classes.
  • Are there any special requirement for licensees that are not electricians?
    • No! You can take any courses listed in the Ohio section for your type of license.
